Global challenges

The impact of humans on the Earth is drastically impoverishing the resources essential for life, putting the very existence of future generations at risk. Each year we consume more resources than the Earth is able to regenerate. If this trend is not inverted, by 2050 we will need two planets to meet the annual demand for resources.

Every company plays a decisive role in the development of a more sustainable and fair economy. They need to reconfigure the current system, moving from a linear “take-make-dispose” logic to a circular “life cycle” approach that considers the entire supply chain of the product/service, combining innovation and sustainability. To stop the current trend and reverse the course of climate change, the need for transition to a green and circular economy has strongly emerged in recent years.
The strategy for transition to a circular economy has the objective of preserving the value of products, materials and resources for as long as possible within the economic system. Achieving this objective requires the extension of the useful life of products and a design that facilitates the reuse and recycling of materials in order to minimize waste production and improve resource efficiency.

As a matter of fact, all sources share the belief that both the steel sector and the renewable energy sector can play a strategic role for growth based on an efficient, sustainable and circular use of resources. Manni Group wishes to contribute to the fight against climate change and the
depletion of natural resources.

Download Sustainability Report

We are inspired by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, an action plan for people, the planet and prosperity signed in September 2015 by the governments of the 193 State Members of the United Nations.
The Agenda envisages 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a comprehensive action plan, which includes targets the States have undertaken to achieve by 2030.
This means that the goals concern all countries and all components of society, companies included, and it is in this direction that our Group intends to make a social contribution.
Since there is the risk of self-referencing in statements on corporate sustainability efforts, we referred to international standards including GRI, SDGs and ISO, and availed of independent certifying bodies for the assurance of this Report.
With this second Sustainability Report, we wish to continue illustrating the path of Business Sustainability undertaken by our Group in 2016, using quantitative and qualitative indicators.
